Nathan is a Managing Partner of Careus, a thematic investor and builder of the technologies transforming trillion-dollar economies fueled by culture, including sports, entertainment, music, fashion, and gaming. Their mission is to help the talent and intellectual property brand owners (IP) who command the attention of billions and drive these economies to have a more equitable share in the value they create. Anchored by NEAR (a16z, Tiger, Pantera), Caerus was founded by seasoned technology investors and operators who have privileged access to the talent & IP owners whose network effects can propel portfolio company growth.
A former athlete himself, Nathan has spent over two decades in pursuit of this mission, helping talent and IP to unlock greater value from their reach and influence. From iconic IPs such as Manchester United, FC Barcelona, UFC, ATP, Scuderia Ferrari Racing, World Rally Championship, Roald Dahl Estate, Frieze to revered talent like Fernando Alonso and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
He has done this as an operator, builder and investor, from senior executive leadership roles at publicly listed corporations such as Endeavor and WPP to start ups like Larry Ellison’s SailGP and board roles with FC Diez, Lapland UK and David Beckham´s Guild eSports.
Prior to founding Caerus, he was a senior executive on the leadership team at Endeavor where he led M&A and new ventures across sport, entertainment, music, fashion, art and gaming. Nathan’s mandate was to help create a compelling IPO narrative to support Endeavor’s 2021 public listing by building a portfolio of high growth, owned & operated blue chip IPs such as the UFC, the Miami Open and Frieze. He established FC Diez, a $1.4bn football media company to operate the South American Champions League for CONMEBOL and led the early stage investment into Larry’s Ellison’s new racing league, SailGP. Nathan worked alongside Sir Russell Coutts, the CEO of SailGP to lead commercial affairs, and in under three seasons, revenues grew by 6x to deliver an IRR of 81%.
