Mark Thompson leads the Advisory business of Holtara, the ESG business of Apex. He has over thirty years’ experience as a consultant advising clients on their sustainability & ESG priorities. On graduating, he worked for the UK environmental regulator, before joining the UK’s first dedicated environmental consultancy, ERM. His work there and at another technical consultancy included environmental impact assessment of large infrastructure projects and environmental due diligence auditing for M&A. As larger listed businesses started to report on their environmental performance he moved to PwC and was a core member of PwC’s Sustainability & Climate Change practice for over twenty years, advising listed companies and private market players on their sustainability ambitions, strategies, programmes and reporting priorities. After a brief spell at Barclays Bank plc he joined the ESG business of MJ Hudson a few months before it was acquired by Apex. As leader of the Advisory business he is responsible for driving Holtara’s Advisory revenues and ESG impact through the Apex footprint worldwide. He has delivered work in over thirty countries. Mark has a BSc. in Environmental Science from the University of Sheffield and an MSc. in Pollution Control from the University of Manchester, UK. He currently lives in London.
